We’re delighted to announce the return of the Seahorse Journalist Awards and Christmas Party 2026, building on the fantastic success of last year’s event. This year, we will be returning to the wonderfully atmospheric Mr Fogg’s City Tavern in Broadgate Circle, London.
This annual celebration recognises the journalists who bring insight, scrutiny, and storytelling to the heart of the freight, logistics, and supply chain industries.
From air cargo to the new Energy Transition, maritime to rising star – these are the voices that shape the narrative of our sector.

Entries for the 2026 Seahorse Journalism Awards will open in September 2026
Entries will open earlier in September for the 2026 Seahorse Journalism Awards, celebrating the very best in supply chain, logistics, and transport media.
This year, we will again use the Zealous platform to manage the awards entry process.
Award Categories & Entry Requirements
- Journalist of the Year – this category is not open for direct submissions; it will include the winners from all other categories, and the top winner will be selected from them.
- Air Cargo Journalist of the Year – this category is open to stories related to air freight and logistics.
- NEW Broadcast Journalist of the Year – this category is open to podcast, video, audio and multimedia coverage of all modes of freight and supply chains.
- NEW Energy Transition Journalist of the Year – this category covers stories related to the energy transition and sustainability across all modes of transportation and supply chains. Sponsored by Lloyd’s Register.
- Maritime Journalist of the Year – this category is open to stories related to the maritime industry, including developments shaping shipping, ports, seafarer safety and more. Sponsored by PSA.
- Rising Star Award – Awarded to a journalist writing about freight and logistics in any mode who is under the age of 35 and has a significant contribution to the industry through their work.
- NEW Road & Rail Journalist of the Year – this category is open to freight stories related to road and rail transport.
- NEW Tech & Intelligence Journalist of the Year – this category covers stories related to digital transformation, AI, tech and data analysis.
- NEW Warehousing & Distribution Journalist of the Year – this category to cover stories on major warehousing developments, new technology in automation and robotics, logistics, supply chain and storage.
- The John Rose Personality of the Year – Nominated award (not open for entry)
- The John Richman Lifetime Achievement Award – Nominated award (not open for entry)
What You Need to Know
- You may enter multiple categories, but with different entries.
- Each article submitted must include:
- Confirmation that it is original and free of plagiarism
- Whether it has been published and/or subbed
- A short note (max 50 words) explaining its USP
- Entries can be submitted in Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf). Multimedia in any format you wish.
- Articles may be in any language (with English translation if required).
- Editors/people may enter on behalf of journalists, but only with the journalist’s permission.
- All award terms and conditions are clearly signposted on the portal.
Time Line
- 1 September – Awards open for submissions
- 2 October – Submissions close
- 5 – 23 October – Judging Round 1
- 2 – 13 November – Judging Round 2
- 1 December – Awards Presentations
Prizes & Recognition
- Each category winner and runner-up will receive prize money plus a trophy or certificate, except for the two Seahorse Awards, Personality of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Winning entries will be showcased on the Seahorse website after the awards.
